Panjab University gets nod for science and tech cluster from Union Government

Union Government approves science and technology cluster at Panjab University

Panjab University, Chandigarh (PU), in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, is set to establish a science and technology cluster on PU's Chandigarh campus. This initiative has received approval from the office of the Union government's principal scientific advisor. The primary aim of this cluster is to bridge the gap between knowledge creators, consumers, and end-users.

Focus areas and regional impact

This non-profit organization will serve as a vital link between the academic and industrial sectors, with a focus on the northern region. It is the first of its kind, sanctioned by the Union government, and will cover the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Chandigarh.

The cluster will concentrate on key sectors such as agriculture, food processing, indigenous technology development, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, waste management, and sustainable mobility. By facilitating collaboration between knowledge producers and industries, this initiative aims to drive economic growth and development in the region while fostering technological advancements and innovations in various sectors.
